A rechargeable battery frees this lamp from a fixed socket, so it moves from a console to a bedside table without trailing a cord. Stefano Giovannoni designed it with a touch switch and a progressive dimmer, letting the light run low for evening or bright for reading. At 22.5 centimetres tall, it sits easily on a shelf or nightstand, which is why it is here.
