An exposed wooden frame runs the full perimeter of the Ruby Lounge, visible where most armchairs hide their structure behind upholstery. The extra-large seat carries visible stitching, and the backrest extends in one continuous line into the armrests rather than meeting them at a seam. At 81 by 92 by 76 centimetres, it sits well as a single armchair in a lounge or suite, which is why it is here. The Ruby sofa shares the same frame and curved armrest, should a matching piece be wanted later.
The wood frame is described as a premium, durable material, chosen for the way it wraps around the padded cushions rather than concealing them. It is available in various finishes, so the timber tone can be matched to existing joinery or flooring. The visible grain and stitching do the work other chairs leave to upholstery alone, and that construction is what will hold up over years of daily use.
