Small apartments rarely have room for a chair that only works one way round. This one solves that by offering two seating positions in a single footprint: lean back against the ears for a conventional seat, or sit facing the other way and rest your forearms along them. Stefano Giovannoni’s design turns a single piece into a flexible option for a reading corner, a child’s room or an occasional seat brought out for guests.
The surface is finished in velvet, softer underfoot and hand than a moulded shell, and suited to rooms where the chair will be touched and used often rather than kept for display. It is intended for indoor use only. At 69 by 39.5 by 80 centimetres, it suits a corner or a spot beside a sofa without crowding the room.
