Hand-blown Venetian glass forms the body of this floor lamp, built up from separate elements finished in different ways. The top and bottom sections use the balloton technique, where a metal mould presses a faceted, three-dimensional diamond pattern into the molten glass as it is blown, a method mastered by Venetian glassmakers over generations.
The central sections are acid-etched in three pearly shades, a finish that softens the glass surface so light passes through unevenly rather than as a single source. Standing 127 centimetres high and 37 centimetres in diameter, the lamp is built up in stacked parts rather than cast as one form, giving each section its own finish and texture.
