The drawer sits on a single steel leg set on the diagonal, appearing to float rather than rest on the floor. We picked it for this construction: the leg incises the space rather than simply supporting the desk, which keeps the floor area beneath it open. It works for a study or office where a conventional four-legged desk would read as heavier than the room needs.
The top is finished in Marmi ceramic, with the vein running continuously from the top surface down the side. This continuity is what gives the desk its architectural quality rather than a decorative one, and ceramic also holds up well to daily use as a work surface.
