Long dining tables often need a centre support that doesn’t crowd the legroom of guests seated along the sides. Beam solves this with a single crossbar rather than a row of legs, which is why it is here. Designed by brothers Buratti for Porada, it continues the approach first developed for Alan, carrying the design forward with its own half-moon-shaped leg detail.
The crossbar is solid Canaletta walnut, shaped using a wood processing technique that allows for complex curves rather than straight, simple lines. Metal plates, finished in brushed brass or black chrome, connect the timber to the legs and support the top. The construction is built to carry a range of top sizes and materials without adding visual bulk at the centre of the table.
