Solid and open volumes sit side by side on the Altavista TV holder, with a wide curve that lets the piece appear to grow from the wall rather than sit against it. A drop-down door drawer and an open compartment beneath the wooden top hold electronics, with a cable outlet built in for easier wiring. The geometry is why it is here: joinery and inlay carry the design rather than any applied decoration.
The top is crafted in fine wood veneer, its balanced joints set off by a contrasting wood inlay that sharpens the lines of the piece. Glass sides keep the composition light against that solid top, while the drawer and open compartment carry metallic finishes. Together the materials explain the cost: veneer, glass and metal, each doing a different job in the same unit.
